The Goole Bicentenary Artwork Collection

July 27 - August 1
FREE

On behalf of the Goole 2026 Community Group, Goole Civic Society is proud to present an exhibition showcasing artwork by local artist Peter Scott, which was created especially for Goole’s 200th birthday year.

The artwork was commissioned by Goole Civic Society for publication in a children’s history book, which has been gifted to local primary school children to mark the town’s bicentenary. It depicts scenes from Goole’s history, based upon archival resources. The collection of original paintings is being displayed as part of a one-off showcase at Junction Goole in what promises to be a must-see exhibition.

Peter Scott is a local artist who can trace his Goole ancestors back to the building of the port in 1826. He has illustrated more than 50 books, including several about history and two about boats, and his work can be found on bookshelves around the world.

  • The exhibition is open to view on Monday 27 July from 12 noon to 2pm, and daily from Tuesday 28 July to Saturday 1 August between 10am and 2pm.
