SUMMARY:Reflections On Goole
DESCRIPTION:First screened in two sell-out shows in 2018\, Reflections On Goole is a showcase of stories and images of Goole. \nThroughout 2017\, Goole Civic Society interviewed local residents to record their memories of living and working in Goole\, and the resulting audio was woven around historic photographs and films of the town. \nWriting in 2017\, Margaret Hicks-Clarke\, Chair of Goole Society\, said: “We have collected a unique archive of memories and stories spanning Goole’s 190-year history\, which we will keep and add to for future generations.” \nAlso being shown as part of the screening are an aerial history of the Goole to Knottingley Canal\, which premiered in January of this year\, and the 2026 version of the 1926 Song of Goole\, which has been recorded by The Warblers choir. \nReflections On Goole will be screened at Junction Goole at 1pm on Sunday 19 July and again at 1pm on Monday 20 July. These screenings have been organised by Goole Civic Society and the Goole 2026 Bicentenary Group. \nTickets are priced at £3. To book\, click here. \n

DESCRIPTION:*Both performances of this event are now SOLD OUT! \nCelebrate 200 years of heritage and history\, with this showcase of Goole on film. \nGoole Civic Society is showing historic films of Goole at Junction Goole as its launch event for the town’s bicentenary celebrations. \nSourced from several collections\, including the Yorkshire Film Archive and Pathe News collection\, the event will showcase a series of films featuring Goole from the 1920s through to the 1980s. \nIt will also include the premiere of two specially-commissioned projects for Goole’s bicentenary year: \n\n A recording of Advance! Goole\, the town’s centenary song\, performed by The Warblers.\nAn Aerial History of the Knottingley & Goole Canal.\n\nThere will be two showings of the films – the first at 2.30pm and another at 6.30pm.
