Goole 200: Past, Present and Future

As part of the town’s bicentenary weekend celebrations, drop into Goole Library any time between 10am and 3pm for fun, free family activities suitable for all ages.
Step into Goole’s story with artists, writers and musicians who will be leading free, drop-in workshops, exploring memories, creativity and imagination. Look back to the past, celebrate the present and think about what comes next; there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Past: Poems from Memory with The Coffeewriter
Take a moment to reflect on your memories of Goole and watch them turned into a poem just for you. Using a typewriter, The Coffeewriter will create bespoke poems inspired by your stories, capturing what makes Goole special to you.
Present: Paint Goole Together with Tony Wade
Play a part in creating a big, shared artwork celebrating Goole. Artist Tony Wade will lead a friendly, drop-in workshop where local people of all ages can help to paint three large silk panels filled with local landmarks, countryside scenes and wildlife. You may even catch these colourful creations on display in the library one day in the future.
Future: Future Sounds with Noise Academy
What’s next for Goole? Help to shape the sound of Goole’s future. Led by an experienced producer, this interactive session invites you to contribute ideas, lyrics and sounds to create an original track inspired by your hopes for the future of Goole.
Whether you drop in for five minutes or stay all day, this is a chance to get involved and be part of something creative and uniquely Goole.
