Poetry Reading and Book Launch

October 17 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
FREE

Goole Museum will host the launch of a new book of poetry by local people who have attended a series of poetry workshops at the museum and other local venues during the town’s bicentenary year.

At the event, poets who have contributed to the book will read their new work aloud for the first time. Produced as part of a recent series of workshops that saw them working with acclaimed poets from across the Yorkshire and Humber region, their poetry was inspired by the museum’s collections and historic local landscapes. The poems in the book are both wide-ranging and curious, drawing inspiration from everything from Reuben Chappell’s paintings and the town’s historic coal hoist to figurines on display in the museum.

The new book features poetry by young writers from Goole Youth Action, The Moorlands Youth and Community Centre and other local groups,  alongside the work of acclaimed poets, including Janine Bradbury, Maia Elsner and Charlotte Shevchenko Knight.
