Goole ‘Company Town’ Walking Tours

Join one of Goole Civic Society’s FREE walking tours to explore the areas of Goole that were built when it was first developed as the ‘Company Town’ of the Aire and Calder Navigation Company.
Following Goole’s official opening in July 1826, over a 20-year period a model town was developed, made up of both Georgian and early Victorian buildings. Although only small sections of the original Company Town remain today, they are still of great significance and include a Georgian ‘lock-up’, a Victorian former theatre, one of England’s oldest purpose-built hotels and Georgian shop fronts.
Led by professional guides Sarah Cowling and Michele Thompson, these informative walking tours are an opportunity to find more about why Goole was built and the events that have shaped its 200-year history.
They will set off from The Peacock on East Parade, Goole (DN14 5RB) at 10.30pm, 1pm and 3pm. Each walk will take one-hour and places can be booked in advance by clicking here.
There are only 25 pre-bookable places on each tour. The tour is on level ground and is fully accessible for wheelchair users.
