Vintage In The Park

Friends Of West Park Goole’s Vintage In The Park event returns on Sunday 12 July, from 12 noon to 4pm, at West Park Goole.

Admission is free of charge and everyone is welcome. West Park’s Cafe will be open and the Nags Shed Bar will be attending to allow those attending to raise a toast to Goole’s 200th birthday year.

There will be music on the bandstand from the ever-popular Paddy O’Kaye, who will be spinning hits from the 1940s, 50s and 60s. Friends Of West Park will also welcome Charlotte Porter and The High Rollers to this year’s event, fresh from a crowd-pleasing set at Howden Vintage Day.

There will be face-painting for children aged three years and above, as well as a selection of vintage and community stalls, and an exhibition of vintage and classic cars.

Friends Of West Park are pleased to welcome back members of Goole District Lions Club, which is celebrating its 60th birthday this year. To mark this very special occasion, they will be offering plenty of family fun, with sports activities including a tug-of-war competition, tin can alley, skittles and more.

Look out for volunteers from HEY! Volunteering, who will be providing support on the day by helping to signpost people to where they need to be. Car park spaces are limited, so those planning on attending are encouraged to car share or walk to the venue if they can, and advised to allow themselves plenty of time to arrive. Please remember that this event is run entirely by volunteers.

East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Club (EYTC) is kindly stewarding and marshalling the vintage and classic cars on display. Vintage cars are preferred and anyone who would like to bring one is asked to pre-book using the link provided on the dedicated event page on the EYTC website. Access for vintage cars will be through the Airmyn Road gates at set times, which will be confirmed by Goole Town Council closer to the date.

As Vintage In The Park is taking place just ahead of Goole’s official 200th Birthday weekend, when a host of community partners are coming together to stage a Goole Bicentenary Community & Heritage Celebration, it’s another special date in Goole’s bicentenary year calendar that’s not to be missed.

Look out for displays about the town’s history by Goole Civic Society, Yorkshire Waterways Heritage Society, Goole Museum, Goole First World War Research Group and Boothferry Family and Local History Group, featuring photos, artefacts, memorabilia and more.
